after a hearty old whiskey soaked pow wow, it was decided to lay this trumped up dispute to rest, our two groups can & do co-exist.
we the torch bearers of the bay area local hobo gobbelin collective bear the green fire with the blessings of our founder. though our sound cannot compare with the original H.G.s, it is what it is and it shall continue. that damned band rules and may well defeat our local krewe in a bonafide duel, they certainly have an awesome album out. however, an important thing to concider is. the majority of the folks in the present hobo gobbelins were also in the previous incarntion and have the percieved right to carry on. as R.S. and others have suggested, we should choose a new name, if so what? a new name=a different identity. I'm open to suggestion but have no good Ideas of my own. some have said we should play different songs if we are to retain the name, but the songs & the songbook are at the root of our krewe, new songs are needed but there is also something to be said for keeping the old favorites in circulation. so, with all of this on the table, I close my statement by asking our esteemed collegue rumple,
"what time does the party start?"
I would like to attend for the early part, though there is a show in the city that I want to see that night.

Re: it's official
Thu, September 13, 2007 - 6:30 PMI like the name, the Hobo Gobbelins, and I see no need to change it. I do think we've taken our sweet time coming into our own. For my part it was at least partly out of reluctance to let go of the past. But what we have now is pretty solid. We just need more songs and we will come into our own nicely.
Tell you what, I blame the Gobbelin songbook. It teaches and confines; uplifts and restricts. We are the Goblins of the Book, and must move beyond it or be relics. It has been our teacher and our crutch, and if not for its wisdom we would have been drifting, but drifting free.
Should we burn the Book? -

Fri, September 14, 2007 - 3:10 PMP.S., I think Underbed is the best out of those. -

now that I consider "Ratfucker" more thoroughly I realize it's more of a 60's-style classic rock thing.

Gobbelin Scum has that double-entendre action

Re: under bed are bug demons
Mon, September 17, 2007 - 10:25 PMKeep the name Hobo Gobbelins, it sounds much better than " that damned band " .
I'd also suggest making a new website etc... -

Re: under bed are bug demons
